We couldn’t do our work without the help of dedicated volunteers. They’re essential to our programs and the care we provide. We’re always grateful when friends can lend a hand!

Here are some ideas: 

Sort food for The Salvation Army
Pack food boxes or baskets
Donate clothing
Pray

No matter your age or skill set, we can use your help, even for just an hour here or there. Learn how you can volunteer in your community!

The Salvation Army Georgia is incredibly fortunate to have so many volunteers helping us do the most good across the state, year-round. TO celebrate and show our appreciation, here’s a look at how you’ve helped us help your neighbors over the past year:

New ways to be a shield across Georgia!

The Salvation Army is “Doing the Most Good” right here in Georgia by meeting human needs in His name. But the need outweighs the resources. We need you to help us provide help, hope, and healing, right here in your communities—here’s how!

In Dalton:

The local Salvation Army Telethon to raise money to help send deserving area youngsters to summer camp will air on WDNN TONIGHT, April 18th, from 7:30 – 9:30pm. The telethon will also stream online at the WDNN website. Call 706-226-2611 during telethon hours to donate! Visit the Dalton Salvation Army website for more information

In Augusta:

Ever wondered how you could serve after disaster strikes?

During a disaster, we rely on trained disaster volunteers to coordinate emergency relief operations and deliver fast, efficient service to disaster survivors.  Drop by on April 25 between 6- 7 PM at the Kroc Center for a volunteer interest meeting to learn more about how you can join The Salvation Army in helping to serve! In Rome:

The Salvation Army in Rome is holding Emergency Disaster Training April 27. This course is designed for new disaster workers who have limited disaster experience and who have just begun their association with The Salvation Army’s emergency disaster services program. The course provides participants with an overview of The Salvation Army’s mission and its role within disaster work.  This class will also include elements of Red Cross applications as well. This class is 4 hours long and begins on April 27 @ 8:00am at Trinity United Methodist Church. Click here for more information.

Doing the most good in your community is a priceless thing– but how does The Salvation Army’s outreach measure up? Here’s a look at some of the numbers behind what The Salvation Army’s been doing across the country… and in your backyard.

120 countries around the world are being served by the Salvation Army.

7700 service centers across the United States help 30 million people a year.

  • That’s roughly one person a second.
  • 4.2 million are helped during the holiday season alone.

320,000 people were helped to fight substance abuse and return as contributing members of their communities through adult rehabilitation centers supported by donations from Salvation Army Family Stores nationwide.

Job referrals were provided to 85,000 people by the Salvation Army last year.

3.4 million volunteers doing the most good in their communities through the Salvation Army USA.

17 million people were assisted with basic social service needs last year.

More than 2.5 million people with special needs were visited by the Salvation Army’s Community Care Ministries last year.
